Barcelona, 6 January 2026
EAS Barcelona, professional pilot training school and EASA-certified Approved Training Organisation (ATO), has announced one of the most significant investments in its history, coinciding with its 10th anniversary: the expansion and modernisation of its multi-engine aircraft fleet, with an investment exceeding €4 million. This move reaffirms the school’s strong commitment to quality, service, and training excellence for its airline pilot students.
Despite already operating one of the most modern fleets in Europe — with an average aircraft age of under four years and fully equipped glass cockpits — EAS Barcelona has decided to go one step further in its continuous improvement strategy. In 2026, the school will replace its five Tecnam P2006T multi-engine aircraft with the new Tecnam P2006T NG (New Generation) models, while also adding a sixth unit. This expansion is complemented by the addition of two Tecnam P-Mentor aircraft, formally ordered at the end of 2025.
Leadership in fleet and technology in Spain and Europe
With this acquisition, EAS Barcelona positions itself as the flight school operating the largest number of aircraft of this type in Spain, in a context where only three such aircraft currently exist nationwide. Following this expansion, EAS becomes the ATO with the largest number of next-generation aircraft in this segment, consolidating its leadership not only at a national but also at a European level.
This strategic decision reflects a clear philosophy: to train pilots prepared for current and future commercial aviation, using aircraft that accurately replicate the technological, operational, and systems management environments they will later encounter in airline operations.
Airline-oriented training
The new aircraft will begin entering service from mid-2026, coinciding with the school’s 10th anniversary. Thanks to this renewal, EAS Barcelona strengthens its position as the ATO offering the highest number of multi-engine flight hours within its Integrated ATPL programmes — a key factor in the operational maturity, decision-making skills, and technical preparation of future airline pilots.
EAS commits to environmental sustainability
The fleet renewal also incorporates a strong focus on environmental sustainability. The new aircraft deliver an approximately 20% reduction in fuel consumption per flight hour compared to previous-generation models, resulting in significantly lower emissions and more efficient operations, supported by the new Rotax 912iSc3 engines. Through this investment, EAS Barcelona aligns its growth with the sustainability objectives of the European aviation sector and reinforces its commitment to more responsible aviation from the training phase onward.
10 years training pilots for international airlines
Over its first ten years of operation, EAS Barcelona has trained more than 1,000 professional pilots, accumulating over 200,000 flight and simulator hours, always under the highest safety and quality standards. This growth has been driven by a combination of an advanced fleet, airline-aligned training programmes, and an instructor team with extensive commercial aviation experience.
